David Flinn

Hi all, thanks for visiting. This channel is about outdoor adventure experiences, focused on climbing, hiking, and backcountry skiing.

Sunday, August 18th, 2024. I left my camp near the Bishop Pass trail in McClure Meadow. I saw a large rockfall on the way to Muir Pass. Most likely due to the gale, I was the only soul camped that night at Lake Wanda, the beginning of Evolution Valley from the south.

On August X, 2024, I descended from Upper Palisades Lake down the Golden Staircase and into McClure Meadow. Down but a long slog nevertheless.

Before all the snow is gone, get out and tour your favorite marsh. The beauty of snow is it gives one the chance to explore salt water marshland while it's all frozen.

After a decent 10" of snow, a lovely day in February to the nearby fields and woods for some cross country downhill practice. The snow was deep enough but the hills were not steep enough.

To celebrate Super Bowl Sunday, Mother Nature dumped 10" of fresh powder on Plum Island beach, near Newburyport, Massachusetts on February 9, 2025.

A super cold day but wind was minor. Snow level enough with a nice powder layer. We ran into an avalanche rescue training class ... very cool.

In August 2024, I left the Woods Creek suspension bridge and worked my way up to just below 10,000' for a nice camp below the fire line. The next morning, up and over Pinchot Pass and down to Lake Marjorie.

On August 13, 2024, I camped at Middle Rae Lakes on my way northbound on the John Muir Trail. On the next day, I hiked down to Woods Creek and then up to Pinochet Pass. There was a staggering amount of avalanche blowdown about two miles from Woods Creek. It really was hairy and will take a lot of work to clear the trail for next year.

August 13, 2024 dawned with Sierra Blue skies. Little did I know I would find tacos on the trail. Thank you Taco Hut tribe! Glen Pass is the northern gateway to the Rae Lakes, one of the cherished destination in the Sierra Nevada mountains.

This video was recorded on an iPhone 14 pro with a few minor voice-over tracks, no music.
